Those who complete the safety course may move up to another class session in food preparation , basic cooking skills and menu planning , which is interesting and challenging , she said .
Irwin is going to invite some local restaurant chefs to be guest teachers during the course .
After the teenagers take classes , they may earn a white chef ’ s coat with their name on it , she said . Then she ’ d like these trained students to help teach younger students in cooking lessons geared to their ages .
